Our Process

I split the process of becoming a client into three primary steps.

1) Getting together to talk.

  1. First meeting: It's all about you. Where have you been, where are you, where do you want to go, and what are you looking for?
  2. Second meeting: Specifics. We'll delve into your financial details and discuss how/if we can help. We'll share who we work with, our focus on having the right "fit", and the process of how we invest your money.

If we both feel these two meetings have gone well, we continue on to the next step.

2) Developing a financial plan.

Financial planning is a journey. Some have had financial plans done for them at one point in their life, but haven't done it on an ongoing basis. Normally, those old plans are out of date and pretty much worthless. That's why I believe financial planning should not be viewed as a destination or one-time event. It should change as your life changes and events around us change. It's an ongoing journey.

I require doing a financial plan before bringing someone on as a client. Why? It helps us really understand who you are. Plans are generally fall into three categories and are charged accordingly: complex, normal, or simple.

  1. Plan Interview: We'll spend 2-3 hours together. We'll go over a series of detailed questions about you personally, about your finances, and about your dreams and goals.
  2. Plan Presentation: I'll present my initial findings. The plan is a living document, and may be adjusted by either one of us throughout the next year.
It is something we will do on an annual basis (at a reduced cost after the first year). After presenting the plan, if we both feel we have a "fit", we move to the next step.

3) Implementing the Plan.

  1. Paperwork: We'll get together to take care of the necessary paperwork to move accounts over to LPL Financial, our Broker/Dealer.
  2. Investment Meeting: Once the accounts and assets have transferred in, we will get together to discuss specific investment implementation. At this meeting, we will also develop a communication schedule tailored to you.
  3. Investment Implementation: Over a period of time investments will be made.
  4. Review: Based on the communication schedule we've developed, we'll review your investments and how you're proceeding toward your dreams and goals.
